For the websites that do not have a transition date, we are still working through issues internally and have not set a date. Please check back often to see if there are changes.
With these changes, numerous websites (including FTP sites), have got a new IP assigned. Please contact the Dataflow team at
ncep.pmb.dataflow@noaa.gov if you need the new IPs for your firewall rules.

ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov
tgftp.nws.noaa.gov

https://www.weather.gov/media/notificat ... rlsaac.pdf
Users waiting for nomads.ncep.noaa.gov:9090 to begin https testing: NCO has successfully worked through all issues and will deploy the changes to the backup website here -
https://nomads.i.ncep.noaa.gov - on Monday, 12/10/18. Users of OpenDap will need to be using GraDS 2.2.1 or later. The transition to enabling full https on the operational/primary Website will be advertised next week.
Users of nomads using port 80 can force their URL to https and begin testing immediately. NCO is still working to resolve the secure certificate issues.
For a complete list of URLs that are impacted by this notice and the no-sooner-than transition date to redirect to https please check this link:
https://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/chang ... ttps.shtml
All users are encouraged to migrate to https earlier than the date listed.
With these changes, numerous websites (including FTP sites), have got a new IP assigned. Please contact the Dataflow team at
ncep.pmb.dataflow@noaa.gov if you need the new IPs for your firewall rules.
----- Beginning the week of December 17th, NCEP will begin blocking direct URL access to the non-primary Website services. Users should be pointing to the primary site URLs, such as, but not limited to:

All users,
We are aware of extra latency on the newly enabled https downloads and are working to determine what is the cause and will provide information on what the new baselines will be once we determine them.
NOMADS OpenDAP users,
NCEP really appreciates your patience with us during this transition. Due to the integrated and complicated infrastructure under port 9090 it was decided to roll the https enabling out slowly, and consequently we did not complete it today. We are working as quickly as possible to provide a system for you to test against and aim at completing that tomorrow. Again, at first we will only be enabling our backup site. Once it is working we will send a notice to this list with the URL for testing.
Thanks,
Carissa Klemmer

NCEP is on track to begin migrating all operational URLs on December 19th. The only potential exception to that is nomads.ncep.noaa.gov due to the ongoing efforts to successfully migrate OpenDAP port 9090 to SSL. We are continuing our efforts to enable SSL over nomads.ncep.noaa.gov:9090. Once we have verified it is working I will notify users on this list to begin testing.
To get a list of URLs impacted please reference this page:
https://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/chang ... ttps.shtml
NCEP has spent time working with our vendors to optimize the download speed over SSL, and at this time, under our current infrastructure, users should re-baseline their transfers to expect approximately twice as long download times. FTP downloads are unaffected by this change and continue to be an available service.
----- On Dec 17th NCEP will begin blocking all direct (College Park/cprk and Boulder/bldr) site URLs. Users should only be using the URLS listed here for these respective services:

3) Product removals from the NCEP Web Services

announced in SCN 17-105. All of the data within these files

AS of today,
http://ftp.ncep.noaa.gov/data/nccf/com/ ... .20181219/
I only see the “_wexp” version of the CONUS files for the various NDFD variables, and the regular files are still missing etc:
Can you give us an estimate when these will be available again.
Also, I can’t find any information regarding the Western expansion files - are these the same as the regular files, with an extended westwards domain expansion?
Thanks for your help on this.

Users,
We implemented some configuration changes that have made improvements to the HTTPS download speeds and are requesting users to re-test and provide feedback. At this time only the following website URLs have the new changes for testing:
https://nomads-cprk.ncep.noaa.gov/
https://origin.ftp.ncep.noaa.gov/
We have also successfully pointed NOMADS OpenDAP/9090 services across SSL and are ready for users to test their download scripts. At this time the only location for testing OpenDap/DODs over port 9090 is the following URL:
https://nomads-cprk.ncep.noaa.gov/
Users are encouraged to begin testing to ensure that all of your applications support SSL downloading.
We are on track to begin http redirects to https the week of 1/15/19. Please start full testing and relay any issues/concerns back to us.
