This is partly true Ard, even though I had been thinking about it for some time, Fred also was thinking about it.

Due to the risk of major quiet zones in the first part of the course (St Gilles – Gulf of Aden) the start will be given from Seychelles, Victoria, which will reduce our trip by around 1,000 miles. But this will keep the fun spirit for this unprecedented race.

Sorry for the change.

With a start in Djibouti it would be serious FUN from day one.

It looks like it's breeding season for the whales at the moment. 8-)

Seeing how we are both white whales, one of us should change their name to Moby Dick perhaps?

Following up on a complaint from Z* that my calculator for the whale did not include TWA = 0. I have now updated the calculator with this additional value. I'll also keep it as a template in case they invent another boat capable of going directly against the wind.

The updated calculators are now online.

(I've also changed the second sail name from "Tree" to "Pine" to be in line with the name chosen by André.)
