When I zoom out, first the cell boundaries disappear, then the wind arrows disappear at zoom values where they would still be seen with the square cell map projection. Apart from this small nit, it's really good!

You're right limelight, there is a little problem with the wind arrows dispaly at some zoom levels.
Not sure the wind display optimization around the antemeridian will work well as well.
Antartica shape is a bit buggy... and two layers are stil to be reprojected (point 0/0 at very high zoom...)
This will be fixed a little bit later.

It's strange that the point 0,0 has a problem since at this latitude there is no difference between the two projections, both have square cells.
