Position coordinates/heading changes..?

It seems the heading is not constant..? I've documented (within the last hour) changes +/- 2 degrees at diff iteration times (by plotting position coordinates in VRTools) This seems to have no pattern to it, and it does seem to correct itself later on, but it's a bit annoying as the speed/angle does not stay the exactly same - even when there's no planned changes in heading. (See my example from 22.22 tonight, Dec.1st)
** Also.. will we be able to have/see two digits/decimals in the speed soon?

Hi!
Regarding the speed of the boat, I noticed the same difference as you reported here. I've computed that the "real" speed of the boat seems to be always less than the displayed one : roughly 0.95% of the displayed speed. For the heading, I didn't noticed any problem. 2 degrees is large! And don't forget that RG uses great circle!

Cheers!

Hi stakk.. thx for reply. Yes, @ 95-96% seems correct in my estimates as well - for the Clipper Race (which does not display two digits/decimals for speed - so this may be part of the reason..?)
I'm also testing the WWR this weekend, to see if there's any diff between the races.. and yes.. there is..!? In the WWR there IS two digits for the speed..? (see images below)
** Would be great if any of the moderators/creators can answer why..? :)
Pièces jointes
"Maxi Trimaran" (WWR) does show 2 digits/decimals. (Why not the Clipper Race..?)

"Clipper 70" speed is only 1 digit/decimal in the game - OK, it "kinda" shows 2, but this is obviously wrong.

Hi FreeRunX5,

I did not notice before that the Clipper 70 polars had only 1 decimal ! (compared to other polars that have 2 decimals). Thank you for pointing it out !
We generate polars from several sources with different engines. There must be a 1 decimal limit in the engine that generated the Clipper 70 polars. We must fix it to get 2 decimals ! I hope updates will be available for the next leg, or maybe sooner !

The +2/-2 degrees diff angle between VRTools and RG seems strange.
I don't have (so don't use) VRTools but I will try to get soon the informations to understand what is going on.

Here are the data of your boat the 1st of December between 20h00 and 23h00, same sail (Génois).

Notice: the heading changes a bit up to 21h42.

I am going to re-run the game engine with these data and calculate the heading between each position and the next one and between each position and the last one to check.

@ blzblz - Thx for the position coordinates "ripped" from the servers.. I will plot them into VRTools and see what it looks like more in detail. :)
------------
A couple other details I ponder about.. :
1) The DTA (as of right now) says 263 nm..? But that can't be the distance to Sydney though..? (see image below)
2) The wind arrows are sometimes a bit large and it'd be a nice feature if we could adjust the "scale" of these - or make them more transparent..?

hey FreeRunX5 !

I've been trying running the game engine with your positions data but I can't get nice results yet, I still have to work on it.

1): The "distance" is the distance form the first boat to the ranking buoy.
Today, on the Clipper, this ranking buoy is at 44° south / 148° East (a bit east of south Tasmania).
We update this ranking buoy position little by little on complex path races to try to have a realistic ranking (if the path was straight line, the buoy will simply be at the finish line...).
I am not too much in invisible stuff like (buoys or lines). It raises questions that would be graphically answered if visible.
But others RG team members don't share my point of view :) .

2): Scaling the wind arrows and making them more or less transparent might be possible. I will try soon. However this would be available for PACHA...

@ blzblz - Great! I assume "pacha" range from 1.jan-31.dec (annually), so I will for sure put my money into this Jan.1st :)

PACHA status last one year starting the donation day.
You can them become pacha any day of the year, the pacha status won't stop on the 31th of december, but 365 days after the donation.

The main advantages of being pacha are:
- 9 waypoints instead of 5
- 9 schedules instead of 5
It also allows you to customize some colors of the interface, and maybe soon the size and transparancy of the wind arrows ;)

Hi again blzblz.. after making some extracts & conversions (using the site: https://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/degree ... al-degrees) from decimal to degrees-min-sec.. plus another conversion from 60"sec to 100"sec (as this is the std in VRTools), I come down to a result that the data extracxted (ripped) from the servers seem to be quite correct. I may have done a "reading error" of the coordinates "on the fly" - or it may have been showing wrong coordinates on the screen..?
// I'm still not sure why the heading has changed between 125/126 though.. or maybe there's a "ghost FRX5 skipper" out there..? :) //
------------
Another thing we can confirm though - as stack also has noticed - is that the actual distance covered (relating to the given speed) in the Clipper game is @ 4% less than it should be. Again, the "in-game-router" shows correct positions when programming (what shows on the screen is also where the boat will be later on), but the positions are "lagging behind" when compared to the same speed/distance in for example the VRTools plotter.
** Is this something that is known.. and is this standard/general for all RegattaGames..? (see images below)
